APMEDUCON - 2016 - Student related competitions / prizes & workshops - open to all medical students registering for the conference

Hello medical students - (Graduate & House-surgeons & Postgraduate) 
Here is an opportunity for you to attend the 6th Annual Andhra Pradesh State Conference on Medical Education, present your research findings / viewpoints on medical education, present posters on medical education / get your voice heard / present powerpoints & yes - win prizes, besides listening to various guest lectures / debates / panels on issues related to medical education. 
We have special sessions / prizes for you - some of them are given below - 

APMEDUCON - 2016 

6th Annual State Conference of Andhra Pradesh on Medical Education 

2016, July 1st to 3rd at AMCOSA Hall, Zilla Parishad, Visakhapatnam. 
July 1st - Pre conference workshops on 
Scientific writing (+ Integrated Teaching / Question Paper setting / Teaching & Testing attitudes) 
2nd & 3rd - Conference including research presentations & posters.

1. C.Janaki Memorial Prize for the Best Research Paper on Medical Education (by students - UG /PG) 
Platform presentation of research paper on topics related to medical  education by students (MBBS, house-surgeons, PGs incl DM/MCh)  

Please send the full paper by 20th June 2016. 

The student must have been actively involved in the research paper and actively contributed to it. 
The student must present the paper and must have registered for the conference. 

The work must be the own work done by the author/ presenter & Not Published or sent for publication. 

There must be at least one faculty in the list of authors of the paper 
The paper must be accompanied by a declaration by the student that is their own work and has not been published anywhere or sent for publication (this letter is to be attestedby a faculty with name & addres & mobile number). 

All papers submitted will be screened and all or the best of them will be invited for Platform Presentation. (the other papers will be allotted to other sections mentioned below with the concurrence of the author) 


Oral presentation - for 7 minutes (laptop & lcd projector available - please upload into laptop 30min. before presentation)
Questions / interaction by judges - about 3 min. (left to discretion of judges)

questions / interaction with audience - at the end of ALL presentations. 



2. Best Poster on Medical Education Research (by students - UG & PG) 

- Poster must be the research work on med edcn done by the author / presenter 

- Please use paper / chart paper for posters AND NOT FLEXI ETC. (to save the environment) 

- Poster size will be standard 4x3 feet (vertical 4ft tall & horizontal 3ft breadth) 

- you can also print on A-4 papers or similar size and pin on the space provided in the conference. 

- Please submit your poster by email - as jpg or similar online format by 25th June 2016 

- Posters received after June 25th may not be included in the prize section - but will be permitted to be displayed.  


3. Free / Open papers - The Best paper will be awarded a prize (open to all - facuty & students)  
this section is meant for Research papers on med edcn including - 

- papers that are screened out from above two prizes (1&2) and 

- papers which are received after the last date and 

- papers for which only the title etc is sent and not the full paper 

- other research papers on med edcn not fulfilling full criteria for award section 

- author / presenter must register for conference and the work must be their own 

- the work must be the own work done by the author/ presenter & Not Published or sent for publication 

- please try to send the papers at least by june 25th to help us in the arrangements and allotting time slots

4. Viewpoints / Personal Opinions - The Best presentation will be awarded a Prize ( - open to all ) 

- Papers / Presentations that are mainly personal opinions & viewpoints regarding medical education 

- and do not fall under the gambit of research papers on medical education.  - The presentation must be the presenter's own presentation and they must register for the conference. 

- please try to send the papers at least by june 25th to help us in the arrangements and allotting time slots
Oral presentation - for 7 minutes (laptop & lcd projector available - please upload into laptop 30min. before presentation)
Questions / interaction by judges / audience - about 3 min. (left to discretion of judges) 

5. Best Powerpoint Slideshow - with or without recorded narration (by  student) on a medical topic of MBBS level 

- PPT slide show must be in auto slideshow mode 


- maximum duration of PPT must be 6 minutes 


- PPT to be sent by June 20th 2016 


- PPTs will be screened during breaks 


- the PPT will be judged by a jury and 


- prize given to the best PPT 


- author must have registered for the conference 


- PPT must be author's own and author is responsible for any copyright issues 

6. Best Question of the Day (by any registered delegate) 


- the delegate must ask their question in the Q-A session after the guest lecture / panel if permitted by the chairperson /moderator of the session 


- allowing the question or not is the discretion of the chair 


- the delegate must also submit the question in written form with their name & designation & mobile number & place of residence


- the question to be submitted to the organising committee members who are designated for this purpose 


- judges' decision will be final 

7.  Best Rapporteur of the Day (for each day) 
- those wishing to participate in this competition must submit their name to the conference organising committee by June 20th 


- they will write  a summary report of the day's proceedings - with a maximum word limit of 500 words 


- the report must be submitted to the organising committee by 10PM on that day 


- the best report will be awarded a prize 

- the judges' decision will be final 

Any other suggestions are most welcome.
